Syrian regime attack civilans despite nominal ceasefire

Heavy clashes between Syrian security forces and activists fighting against President Assad’s regime have killed 23 soldiers in Rastan.

A UK-based activist group called as Syrian Observatory for Human Rights revealed that many activists and soldiers were wounded in Homs Province.

The group also reported that security forces have lost three of their troop carriers during the clash.

However, the report of deaths and destruction of troop carriers were not confirmed yet by the Syrian government.

This attack defies the expectation of international community after UN had called for a ceasefire which was to be implemented a month back.

On Sunday, 30 people including many civilians lost their lives. Yet, the reports could not be confirmed owing to severe restrictions imposed on media by the Syrian security forces.
UN sources reported that they have deployed 189 observers in Syria under the six-point peace plan initiated by Kofi Annan, UN-Arab League envoy.

According to UN estimates more than 9,000 Syrians have died so far opposing the Pr-Assad regime since March 2011. There was a massive bomb attack in Damascus by radical Islamist group on Saturday.

Tennesse governor signs bill on sex education

Tennessee governor, Bill Halam clears the gay bill amidst huge controversies

The bill has led too nationwide criticism and comedian Stephen Colbert made fun of it on Colbert Report television show saying that everything related to sex should be banned including kissing and hugging.

However, those who favored the law, stated that the bill would support the existing abstinence-only-sex-education policy.

According to the new law, teachers or any educator in Tennesse may face a fine if found promoting “gateway sexual activities.”

Family Action Council of Tennessee’s president David Fowler brought forth the bill. He stated that the new law does not prohibit kissing or holding hands in sex-education classes rather it addresses touching of genitals and other body parts that lead to sex.

The bill was crossed through both the Senate 28-1 and the House 68-23 during their legislative sessions.

The ambiguous language used in the bill might confuse many people, said an opponent. Fowler however defended the bill saying, it needed to mention in detail owing to many incidents during sex-education classes when teachers were describing about alternate sexual practices for satisfaction without risking pregnancy or any disease.
