In an effort to speed the development of new medicines to treat the brain disorders, the major drug makers decided to share Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease data from their medical trials. According to Reutes, The database, a public/private partnership to be announced on Friday, will give academic and industry researchers across the globe access to information from more than 4,000 patients with neuro-degenerative diseases. This should speed up the reasearch for brain disorder treatments.

China Earthquake June 2010

The magnitude 5.6 earthquake rattled southern Xinjiang province on Thursday near its border with Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

According to USGS (the U.S. Geological Survey) the moderate quake hit near Kyrgyzstan was centered about 75 miles, west-northwest of Kashi. No casualties have been reported so far.
A powerful 7.9-magnitude earthquake that hit Sichuan Province, a mountainous region in Western China, in May 12, 2008 killing at least 70,000 people and leaving over 18,000 missing.

The Twilight Saga – Breaking Dawn

The fourth movie in The Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn will be split into two parts. The distributor Summit Entertainment confirmed that the first part of Breaking Dawn is expected to be released on November 18, 2011. The announcement came before the release of the third movie in the Twilight series. The 900 page Breaking Dawn book is said to be too complex to film as one movie and hence decided to split into two.
The Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn book revolves around Bella’s marriage to the vampire Edward. Bella subsequently gets pregnant, and wants to be transformed into a vampire.

iPad Breach FBI Probe

The FBI has decided to initiate investigation into a possible security breach of AT&T Inc.’s site that exposed the email addresses of iPad owners. Both Apple and AT&T who are in an embarassing situation declined to comment on the issue. According to AT&T Inc., it “has been in close contact with Apple” over the incident.

A group of computer experts called Goatse Security that found the flaw in AT&T Inc.’s website contacted numerous news agencies before ultimately sharing its findings Gawker Media, which published the news on their blog on Wednesday June 9.

Abby Sunderland of Thousand Oaks, Calif., who was trying to sail around the world solo was missing in Indian Ocean on Thursday 10th June 2010. The brave Californian girl departed alone 23rd January in her sailboat Wild Eyes set off distress beacons in stormy conditions in a remote part of the Indian Ocean.

New Penalties on British Petroleum

The energy giant British Petroleum is facing tougher penalties from the Obama administration. On Wednesday 9th June, 2010 the British Petroleum depositary shares trading in New York stock exchange fell almost 16 percent to close at $29.20. This is the lowest share value of BP since August 1996, on growing worries about the costs the company will have to spend on stopping the worst oil disaster in Gulf of Mexico. The company spokesman said last week BP has “plenty of” cash to deal with the crisis and the Obama administration has made similar remarks.
The British Petroleum has so far spent close to $1.25 Billion to cleanup and cover damages.

Nadal Won The Fench Open

The King of clay court Rafael Nadal won the French open 2010. With the win Rafael Nadal moved to the number 1 position in the ATP Tennis ranking. His opponents threw everything – especially Lleyton Hewitt, Thomaz Bellucci and Nicolas Almagro, as well as Jurgen Melzer in the third set of the semi – but they didn’t win a set between them as Nadal won his fifth French Open title. This is Nadal’s seventh Grand Slam title.
